After buying my young son some boys snow boots, he turned to me and said "what's your favorite shoes?". Well, I have a pair of shoes that I adore. I found them on eBay a few years back - they're classic, sharp toed heels. I would guess that the heel is around three inches - nothing extreme - but the shoes themselves are extraordinary. They're mostly black, but with a slash - a bit like the Nike symbol - of white and red across the toes, at a daring diagonal angle. The colours are not merely painted on, they're different colour leathers, sewn together, with the edges of the joins being slightly raised as a result. Although the toes on these shoes are pointed, they're very comfortable because they're wide enough for my foot to slip into without distortion - the pointed toes go on well beyond my 'real' toes. This does not make my feet look big! I love these shoes because they pull an ensemble together - you can wear black, but the white and red highlights on these shoes lift your outfit. Heels are always elegant, but extreme heels less so. This particular pair of shoes is understated and, at the same time, classy. |
